Fantastique! at the V&A

Saturday 4th May 2019

Victoria & Albert Museum, South Kensington

As part of the V&A Performance Festival 2019, and in collaboration with Love2Sing and conductor David Lawrence, Berlioz 150 programmed a series of pop-up performances given by three different London-based children’s choirs in different spaces at the V&A, ending with a combined performance by all three choirs in the Grand Entrance Hall. This was followed by a recital of Berlioz songs in the Lecture Theatre with mezzo-soprano Rachel Kelly and pianist Edwige Herchenroder. All the 75 children joined Rachel at the end of the recital in a performance of The Shepherds’ Farewell from Berlioz’s L’enfance du Christ.

With thanks to the Paradigm Trust for organising the children’s choirs, and to the V&A and the Sickle Foundation for their generous support.
